Griso spent seven years with his family before a neighbor's dog kept breaking into their yard and attacking their dogs, and they couldn't keep him safe anymore. In the shelter he is terrified—barking at handlers from the corner, trembling when touched, shutting down completely—but his family says at home he was affectionate and cuddly with the people he trusted.

What the shelter has seen
- Resource guards his food from other dogs—growls, snarls, shows teeth if they come too close while he's eating
- Growls at children if they approach too quickly, and his family says don't let kids pick him up
- Cuddly and friendly with the people he knows and trusts, but deeply fearful of strangers and new situations
- Shuts down hard in the shelter—trembling, cowering, alarm barking, then retreating to the corner
- Knows sit, goes to his crate on cue, housetrained, lived seven years with toddlers and another dog in the home
What Griso needs
This is not a beginner's dog and we will not pretend otherwise. Griso needs an experienced, patient adult home with no children, no other dogs, and someone who understands fear-based behavior and resource guarding. He is New Hope Only, which means he must be pulled by a qualified partner rescue.
