Enzo
County ID A5146871
Deadline: Thursday, September 10.
Enzo is a two-year-old with a boomerang history and a problem he can't solve on his own. When his people leave, the anxiety floods in—crate becomes a trap he breaks out of, house becomes a place he can't hold it in. The friendliness is real, the commands are there, the gentle mouth and the goofy energy are all intact. But he needs a human who understands that separation anxiety is not a behavior problem to punish, it's a nervous system problem to work through.

What the shelter has seen
- Came to the shelter from the shelter—adopted out six months ago, returned for separation anxiety that showed as escaping his crate and having accidents when left alone.
- Knows sit, shake, and lay down. Takes treats gently. Leash pulls from excitement but redirects.
- Handlers across three intakes saw play bows at other dogs, loose wagging tail, soft body. Described as people social, high energy, food motivated.
What Enzo needs
A foster with separation anxiety experience or the willingness to learn management and desensitization protocols. This is not a beginner's dog. Enzo must be pulled by a New Hope Partner rescue no later than September 10th.
Everything here comes from Enzo’s Maricopa County Animal Care and Control record. We leave out the parts that belong between the shelter, the rescue and the vet, and we do not soften what a dog needs. If something changes at the shelter, this page changes with it.
