Sparrow is a two-year-old dog who melts into affection once he trusts you—soft body, wagging tail, leaning in for touch. But when startled or approached before he's ready, he can escalate fast, teeth and all. He's been at West for two months and his window just closed to five days.

What the shelter has seen
- Wagged and pawed at the kennel door, leaned into handlers for petting, jumped onto laps asking for attention
- Walked into the yard with a loose body, sniffed around independently, allowed petting and leash handling
- Lunged and snapped at a handler through the kennel door when startled while resting in the back of the run
What Sparrow needs
This is not a beginner's dog and we will not pretend otherwise. Sparrow needs an experienced handler who understands fear and can read what comes before the reaction. New Hope Only—he must be pulled by a partner rescue by September 2nd.
