Miriam
County ID A5170136
Deadline: Tuesday, September 1.
Miriam is a senior dog with a soft body and low tail wags, the kind of old girl who needs a minute to trust that you mean well. She froze once on leash when the world felt too big, then settled when given time. She has multiple medical issues that will need care and monitoring.

What the shelter has seen
- Twelve-year-old shepherd who walks with a handler who talks softly and lets her set the pace.
- Explored the yard, nose to ground, approached when called, sat in the shade and accepted petting.
- Took treats, some with eagerness, some a little grabby, let a handler wipe the gunk from her eyes.
What Miriam needs
A quiet foster home with someone experienced enough to read an elderly dog's signals and give her the space and time she asks for. This is New Hope Only—she must be pulled by a partner rescue with medical support in place.
Everything here comes from Miriam’s Maricopa County Animal Care and Control record. We leave out the parts that belong between the shelter, the rescue and the vet, and we do not soften what a dog needs. If something changes at the shelter, this page changes with it.
