Orson is a big, gentle-mouthed dog who knows basic commands and loves human attention. But he is also a dog whose reactivity to other dogs is escalating in the kennel, and the stress of confinement is showing in every movement—flagged tail, wide eyes, hard pulls, fixation he cannot break on his own. He needs out of this building.

What the shelter has seen
- Knows sit, takes treats gently, comes when called
- Soft and happy approaching handlers in his kennel, accepts petting
- Pulls hard on leash, fixates on other dogs—stiffens, stares, chuffs, low growls, won't disengage without handler intervention
- Resisted returning to his kennel after seeing the dog next door, began pulling hard toward that kennel with stiff body
- Paces and marks in play yard, tense body, takes time to settle before approaching handler
What Orson needs
Orson must be pulled by a New Hope Partner rescue by close of business September 2nd. He needs an experienced handler and a home with no other dogs. This is not a beginner's dog and we will not pretend otherwise.
