Seven

County ID A5170402

Deadline: Tuesday, September 1.

Seven spent five years in a home with small dogs and a young child before his family hit a breed restriction. He's now in a cement kennel with what appears to be a serious untreated medical condition—constant tremors, falling, leaning into people just to stand, a pronounced head tilt—and he is terrified. The fear and pain have made him defensive when cornered, but he has no bite history and walked on leash when given space to move.

What the shelter has seen

  • Lived inside with three adults, one toddler, and two small female dogs since puppyhood—played and sniffed with the other dogs, no problems
  • Housetrained, alerts at the door, knows sit and kennel commands, crate trained with no issues
  • Owner surrendered for breed restrictions after five years—noted he doesn't like his ears touched and will air snap or growl, has an untreated ear infection in his right ear
  • In shelter has shown severe pain response and instability—trembling, falling repeatedly, leaning on handlers to stay upright, head tilt, delayed reactions
  • Growls and hard-stares when approached in kennel but has walked on leash to yard, did not seek interaction but used handler's leg for balance

What Seven needs

This is not a beginner's dog and we will not pretend otherwise. Seven needs a New Hope partner rescue to pull him by close of business September 1st, and he needs someone who understands that pain makes dogs guard themselves. He needs veterinary assessment immediately and a foster who can give him quiet, time, and room to decompress while he heals.

Everything here comes from Seven’s Maricopa County Animal Care and Control record. We leave out the parts that belong between the shelter, the rescue and the vet, and we do not soften what a dog needs. If something changes at the shelter, this page changes with it.
