But the shelter has her so far under she can barely surface. She needs someone who understands that a dog this scared isn't broken, just waiting for the ground to stop shaking.

What the shelter has seen
- Sits close to handlers in the yard, leans in for petting, will put her front paws on you gently when you sit down
- Checks in with people even when she's nervous, follows handlers around, comes when called
- Shuts down hard under stress—whale eye, tucked tail, flinches at touch and sudden noise, trembles when approached in her kennel
- Not food or toy motivated when scared, which is most of the time right now
- Pulls hard on leash getting to and from the yard, body low, looking back over her shoulder
What Cherry needs
This is not a beginner's dog. Cherry needs a foster with serious fear-case experience, no young children, a quiet home, and the patience to let her decompress for as long as it takes. She is New Hope Only and must be pulled by a qualified rescue partner by end of business September 14th.
