9/15/2026 09/15/26 14:33 Canine has demonstrated low tolerance for handling and other concerning behaviors during their time in care. Placement with a New Hope Partner is needed by close of business 9/20/26 to facilitate further behavioral evaluation and support. May be at risk for euthanasia 9/21/26 or sooner if warranted. 9/13/2026

Laying in back portion of kennel on approach with tense body, whale eye, some trembling observed in back legs, frozen in place, would not come forward for treats or coaxing. Closed divider and met dog outside, pacing near divider and jumping on kennel walls, would not come forward for coaxing or treats. Froze in place as kennel door was opened, looking away from handler as handler approached with head lowered, tail tightly tucked, flinched heavily when placing leash. Exited with slow, easy leash pull, startled and flinching heavily when passing by reactive dogs, no issues walking to yard. Once in yard dog was wary of assistant handler, began pulling away from assistant handler, tail tucked, whale eye and head lowered, cowered away from assistant handler when walking dog to assistant handler, no interest in attentions, immediately retreated to play yard exit. Froze in place when approached, very timid with whale eye and tense body, tolerated petting from handler but did not seek out attentions. Easy return to kennel, walked into kennel on own and immediately pancaked onto bed, allowed handler to slowly approach and remove leash by hand.

9/9/2026

Outside for AM cleaning laying in back of kennel with tense body, whale eye, some trembling in back legs, very timid. Not interested in treats offered or coaxing, retreated to back of kennel as door was opened with tail tightly tucked and hunched over body, able to slowly approach and place leash with no issues. Very slow, easy leash pull behind handler on way to m&g room, defecated before entering building, startled by reactive dogs in passing, no issues walking to room. Dog followed handler to chairs with tail tucked, tense body, side eyeing, placed front paws up on chair next to handler with head lowered, accepted pets all over before sitting next to handler with whale eye, head lowered, tail tucked, trembling in back legs. Dog would tolerate pets throughout evaluation but did not solicit attentions, would lay down and begin to sleep next to handlers leg, still trembling, startled by loud noises outside of room. Gave dog a few moments, would follow handler to m&g door and accept pets while picking up leash. Easy return to kennel, slow easy leash pull, walked into kennel on own and allowed handler to remove leash by hand.

9/8/2026

Dog would not approach front of kennel with verbal coaxing or treats, closed kennel divider. Approached back half of kennel, would not approach gate with treats, would lower body, tuck tail tightly under body, flattened ears & avoiding eye contact with handler. Slowly leaned into kennel to leash without issues. Walked to main PY slowly with verbal coaxing while keeping tail tucked under body. Would walk to bench & lay down under bench. Avoiding eye contact. Unable to coax out from under bench with verbal coaxing or treats. Slowly picked up leash, dog would walk to middle of green turf with handler, tolerated petting while avoiding eye contact from handler & keeping tail tucked under body. Dropped leash, dog would return to under bench, lying down while closing eyes. Waited a few more minutes then picked up leash. Slowly walked back to kennel with verbal coaxing keeping tail slightly tucked under body. Entered into kennel & allowed leash removal to be done by hand.

9/5/2026

When handler opened kennel door, k9 retreated to corner of kennel with head turned away and began urinating itself. Anytime handler would make movement, k9 would urinate. Handler was able to slowly place slip lead on, once lead was placed k9 walked willingly out of kennel crouched lower to the ground. Handler guided k9 to walk a certain direction with light leash pressure, and k9 began to defecate and urinate. When placing muzzle wrap restraint, k9 pancaked and froze. Allowed handler to lightly pick up to complete spay check. Walked back into kennel with no issues and unleashed by hand.

9/17/2026 09/17/26 11:01 K9 has no appetite, refusing all treats, wet food and chicken/rice offered. Heavy amount of green mucoid nasal discharge in both nares. Small puddles of hacked up bille in kennel. Due to lack of appetite, gave the following oral suspension medication. --Doxycycline (100mg/mL): Administered 2.5mL PO once --Cephalexin (500mg capsule): Hand pilled 1.0 capsule PO once AP 9/16/2026 09/16/26 16:26 Limited visual examination due to infectious disease concerns. S/O: Gen - QAR, BCS 5/9 EENT - No ocular discharge. Serous nasal discharge. RESP - No stertor or stridor. No coughing. No sneezing. Normal respiratory rate and effort. GI - No significant findings. NEURO - Normal mentation. No significant findings. A: - Signs of CIRDC noted upon exam. Likely viral etiology with secondary bacterial component. P: - Isolate for treatment in I - Start doxycycline 10mg/kg 250mg PO q24h x 14d - Recheck at 14 days or sooner if concerns arise - Medically okay to PUFA 9/15/2026 09/15/26 14:30 BAR, avoidant. Wouldn't allow hands on exam. BCS 4/9 Derm-furunculosis and papules on hocks and elbows. Start cephalexin 500mg po bid x 10 days. 9/15/2026 09/15/26 10:52 Skin appears generally pink and irritated JNR 9/5/2026 09/05/26 17:39 No tattoo or no scar seen with adult mammary and vulvar development, consistent with unaltered female.
