Eldredge
County ID A5171146
Deadline: Wednesday, September 16.
Eldredge ran into someone's workplace at the end of August, terrified and alone. He warmed up enough over a few days to let her handle him, but the shelter has brought all that fear right back to the surface. Under the reactivity and the freeze response is a young dog who already learned commands and how to live in a home.

What the shelter has seen
- Knows sit, paw, and roll over—somebody spent time with him before he ran off and ended up here
- Barks and lunges at other dogs on leash; calmed down when the finder petted him through it
- Shuts down hard when afraid—pancakes, whale eye, won't take treats—and has growled when handlers reached for him in that state
- Pulled hard on leash and tried to fence-fight through kennel gates during his shelter walk
- Very high energy, digs, crated fine indoors, ran out an open door
What Eldredge needs
This is not a beginner's dog and we will not pretend otherwise. Eldredge needs someone who understands fear-based behavior, won't push him past threshold, and can manage serious dog reactivity while he decompresses. He is New Hope Only, so a rescue partner must pull him by close of business September 16.
Everything here comes from Eldredge’s Maricopa County Animal Care and Control record. We leave out the parts that belong between the shelter, the rescue and the vet, and we do not soften what a dog needs. If something changes at the shelter, this page changes with it.
